The Aapki Beti Hamari Beti Scheme is to increase the status of a girl child in the family and society. This scheme aims to improve the falling sex ratio in the state and secure the education and future of girls. Under this scheme, the daughters of the state are provided financial assistance of Rs. 21,000/- on their birth. The government wants everyone to see daughters as a burden and not as a pride of society.

It is mandatory for the pregnant woman to register at the nearest Anganwadi centre or health department. It is necessary to have proper immunisation after the birth of a daughter. The daughter and her parents should have an Aadhaar card. Girls should be enrolled in schools. The parents should not be taxpayers. The parents should not receive a pension or financial assistance from the government/local bodies.

Visit the official website of the Department of Women and Child Development and click on the ‘Scheme’ tab and select the ‘Scheme for Children’ option from the drop-down box. Benefits of the Haryana Aapki Beti Hamari Beti Scheme
Eligible beneficiaries will receive the following benefits under the ” Haryana Aapki Beti Hamari Beti Scheme”:
- The first girl child born on or after 22 January 2015 to an SC and BPL family is given Rs. 21,000. The sum of Rs 21,000 is invested with the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) in the name of a girl child.
- All families will get Rs. 5,000/- every year for five years upon the birth of the second girl child born on or before 21 January 2015, irrespective of religion, caste, and creed.
- The LIC amount with interest will be given to the girl child after she completes 18 years.
- By providing financial security, the scheme helps improve access to education and promotes the overall welfare of the girl child.
- In the case of twin or multiple girls born on or before 21st January 2015, each girl child will receive Rs. 2500/- per annum for five years.
